Programme Overview

The programme provides hands-on experience in sampling, inspection, and monitoring of industrial products, working with tank farms, pipelines, road tankers, and laboratory procedures.

Interns will gain exposure to global quality standards, laboratory protocols, and operational procedures while contributing to real-world projects within SGS.

Key Responsibilities

• Sampling products from various sources
• Labeling samples, registering, and issuing to the laboratory
• Tank gauging and issuance of dip sheets and cleanliness certificates
• Inspection of containers, pipelines, road/rail tankers, and storage tanks
• Monitoring road tanker loading/unloading and obtaining weigh certificates
• Sealing valves and hatches (pipeline, tank, road/rail tanker)
• Recording inspection data accurately in field notebooks
• Completing inspection certificates and reports
• Maintaining logs of events, anomalies, and deviations
• Supporting crude tank farm operations, water draining, and sampling
• Witnessing packing of containers as per client/internal procedures
• Ensuring sample and inspection equipment are clean and operational

Requirements

• Education: NQF 2–4 in Chemical Engineering or similar; Grade 12 / Matric or N3 with Mathematics and Science
• Experience: Must be currently unemployed
• Driver’s License: Code 08
• Residency: Must be resident in Durban
• Attributes: Attention to detail, reliable, safety-conscious, willing to learn
