The Small Enterprise Foundation (SEF) is a not-for-profit, pro-poor microfinance institution dedicated to eradicating poverty by creating a supportive environment where credit and savings services foster sustainable income generation, job creation, and social empowerment. SEF currently supports over 170,000 micro-entrepreneurs across South Africa through microcredit, savings facilitation, and training.

Programme Structure:

1. Rotational Schedule (First 6 Months):

  • Hands-on experience in all departments including:
    • Operations
    • Administration
    • Finance
    • Quality Assurance
    • Training
    • Human Resources
    • Research and Development
    • IT
    • Management Office

2. Departmental Specialisation (Second 6 Months):

  • Graduate will be assigned to a department based on organisational needs and personal interests for in-depth experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in daily operations and project work across multiple departments
  • Assist with administration, finance, training, and operational tasks
  • Support departmental projects, research, and reporting
  • Develop personal and professional skills through on-the-job training
  • Collaborate with colleagues in both head office and rural operations
  • Contribute to the organisation’s mission of poverty alleviation

Requirements:

  • South African citizen with valid ID
  • Recent graduate in one of the following fields:
    • Social Sciences
    • Business Administration
    • Economics
    • BCom (Honours)
    • Statistics
    • Auditing
    • Human Resources
    • IT
  • Strong academic record (average 65%+)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Analytical skills and ability to work independently and in teams
  • Advanced computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Self-motivated, confident, and proactive
  • Demonstrated leadership potential
